Counting down to the 2012 London Olympics

Did you know that 2012 London Summer Olympic Games are less than 500 days away? Well, it's true, and there's an eye-catching clock at Trafalgar Square to help you keep track of the countdown.

London is the second city I've lived in that can claim the honor of hosting the Summer Olympics Games. The 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics happened during my college years, and I was glued to the TV for four weeks from the comfort of my couch in the dorm.

More than a decade later, I'm again affiliated with an Olympics host city. But this time I will no longer be a couch potato. Instead, I will visit East London and cheer on the sweaty athletes in person. If you're planning to attend the 2012 London Olympics, here's some important information for you.

The tickets already went on sale in mid-March, and only those who apply before the April 26th deadline will have a chance to gain access to the events of your choice. It is not first-come-first serve, and due to the public's enormous interest you may not even get any of your first picks. However you'll definitely not get in if you don't apply. So here's a helpful article from CNN to get you started.

Good luck, and I hope to see you in 2012!
